[Sunday 09/21/14] New Event: Foci LIVE at B.B. Kings NYC for the 2014 Underground Music Awards

UrbanMusicAwards

Underground Music Awards_OfficialFlyer

All the votes are in and we find out if our very own Foci brings the #1Contender trophy back home.
Regardless of the results we want to thank you all for your support!

“Urban Threshold’s Underground Music Awards is a national award show that breaks all of the rules of conventionalism. Unlike the Grammy Awards or the Billboard Music Awards, the Underground Music Awards were created to acknowledge and honor the achievements and contributions of unsigned and independent artists within the urban music scene. Every year there are incredible records released by independent labels and artists. Very rarely do the institutional accolades of the music industry reach or embrace independent music or the community of artists and fans who now represent 25% of all global music sales. Hence, the Underground Music Awards Program was born to fill that void.

Past winners and Honorees of Urban Threshold’s Underground Music Awards include: Ice T, Naughty By Nature, EPMD, Lupe Fiasco, MIMS, Styles P, Kid Capri, MOP, Papoose, Remy Martin, Killah Priest, Afu-Rah, Kool G. Rap, Lil Mama, DJ Red Alert, Ralph McDaniels, Cormega, DJ Kay Slay, Saigon, Lumidee, and many more.

After 10 very successful years, Urban Threshold Enterprises Inc. continues to make it their top priority to bring together music professionals, artists, DJ’s, fans, media outlets and more to network, build relationships and celebrate the culture of independent urban music. Urban Threshold’s Underground Music Awards combines the elements of an award show, a music conference, an informational seminar, and an entertainment showcase into one lively event.

Moreover, It features and participants, from all over the world, representing the full spectrum of underground Hip Hop, R&B, Gospel, and Reggae music and fashion as a global phenomenon.”

“While many emcees refer to the drug trade and their prowess in the underworld as a stepping stone to their own success in the music industry, few recognize the damage that substance abuse has on not just the user, but the families and friends of those close to them. In “Peace Up” Produced by Diverse (Young Buck, Bishop Lamont, Dilated Peoples) and Directed by Eric Heights (ArtBattleLA, KCET, Niche.LA) off of Foci’s debut The Achievement Gap, Foci gives us an alternative stance while narrating from a point of view where he too recognizes how he failed his friend. The song highlights how a once promising young man slowly morphed into substance abuse, which resulted in the consequences of a decline in health, choices, and spirits. No stranger to this, Foci tells a true story of the tragic situation that lead to his friend ultimately committing the act of murder. The final words in the song will be sure to give you chills down your spine. It is a tragic and very sad order of events that anyone and everyone can relate to, in the ever so entrancing and haunting hook, if you’ve ever lost one put your peace signs up in the air.”
